Success Story

The Kidney Cancer Association reaches kidney cancer communities across the globe, specifically through awareness campaigns. The 79K Challenge is the KCA’s signature awareness event, taking place each June.

Nearly 79,000 people are expected to receive a kidney cancer diagnosis in 2022. This staggering statistic inspired the KCA, patients, and community in our largest peer-to-peer fundraising initiative to date to raise hope, awareness, and funds that will directly impact kidney cancer research. The 79K Challenge kicked off on June 1, 2022 and wrapped-up on June 30, 2022, strategically overlapping with the celebration of World Kidney Cancer Day in mid-June. The goal was to inspire people to get active during the month of June and raise awareness for kidney cancer. Our goal was to raise $79,000 in honor of those who will get a diagnosis this year.

In total, 105 fundraisers participated in the 79K Challenge. Thanks to 492 generous donations, the 79K Challenge raised over $90,000 – exceeding our goal – for kidney cancer research and helped raise spread awareness about kidney cancer.
