Success Story

On an early August morning our lives were changed forever when our vivacious 2 year-old son was caught in an accidental house fire. He sustained burns over nearly 90% of his body.

Given the severity of his burns, we were referred to Shriners Hospital for Children in Boston, Massachusetts, whose renowned medical team had the expertise to address his medical conditions. We were able to secure an appointment quickly and were thrilled to know that our son would be in good hands with the team at Shriners.

Our elation turned to concern on how we would get him from New Jersey to Boston for his appointments. The long trip by car would be uncomfortable for him; a commercial airline was a possibility, but the cost was prohibitive. We did not know where to turn. The doctors were adamant that we get to Shriners Hospital in Boston for this appointment.

That's when Angel Flight Northeast came to the rescue and changed our despair to hope.

I reached out to Angel Flight NE explaining to one of their mission coordinators my son's situation and that we needed their help. Within a day, the mission coordinator called us back letting us know that an Angel Flight volunteer pilot would fly us round trip at no cost to the appointment. I was overcome with joy that a stranger would be so generous to our son and his needs.

Since our 1st flight we have flown more than 40 free flights with Angel Flight Northeast.

Angel Flight NE's support has made it so much easier for me to concentrate on what his medical needs are and not on how I am going to get him to the places that can give him the care he needs. I don't know what we would have done without Angel Flight Northeast.
