Success Story
Mission Statement
World Orphans is committed to rescuing millions of orphaned and abandoned children, strengthening the indigenous church, and impacting communities with the gospel of Jesus Christ through church-based orphan prevention, rescue, care and transition programs in the least reached areas of the world.
Four-year-old Phillip lives in one of the children's homes on the property of Christian Life Centre in South Africa. When Phillip was seven months old his mother, dying from HIV/AIDS, came to the church seeking refuge for herself and her son.
Ostracized from her community after they learned she was infected with AIDS, Phillip's mother had heard about Christian Life Centre and knew that they would help. She begged them to be able to stay for just one day, one day of refuge so that she and her son, who was also very sick, could receive care. Little Phillip's face was covered in bug bites and sores; his fingertips gnawed to the bone by rodents. His body was weak and in distress.
The church took them in and by the next day Phillip was orphaned; his mother dying during the night. Now, nearly three years later he is a strong, well-nourished boy full of energy and life. He lives in the children's home on the church property and is taken care of by loving Christian house parents. His physical needs, mental needs (schooling happens right there), emotional needs (trauma counseling), and most importantly, spiritual needs are being taken care of by the local indigenous church.
