Success Story

The National Foundation for Alternative Medicine (NFAM) was founded in 1998 by former Congressman Berkley Bedell and his wife, Elinor. Berkley had left Congress due to a debilitating illness for which conventional medicine offered no cure. He found healing with a simple, alternative treatment in his home state of Iowa. His enthusiasm for the method of his recovery brought him to work with the National Institutes of Health (NIH). He was instrumental in forming the Office of Alternative Medicine (OAM) at NIH to investigate alternative and complementary medicine. After several years, Berkley became convinced that NIH lacked the flexibility to adequately investigate novel alternative treatments.

As a result, Berkley and Elinor established NFAM to bring health to people around the world through effective, affordable, and nontoxic alternative therapies.

Berkley states the following: "NFAM is working to prove a treatment using electromagnetic technology for heart disease in Lima, Peru. One of the first patients treated in Lima was scheduled for heart surgery. After the treatment the patient improved so much that the surgery was cancelled. It is a frequency treatment with no additional medications. The only cost is an inexpensive machine and the cost of the personnel that supervise the treatment. Can you imagine what this would do to the cost of treatment for heart disease? Can you imagine what it would do for the health of the world's people?"

Please join NFAM's effort to search for cures from around the world with your donation.
