As I await deployment, the worry is overwhelming. Who will care for my daughter? Laura's father explains, I've cared for Laura for over 19 years. Her mom abandoned us when Laura was just three years old. It has been rough as a single dad raising a child with special needs. We've made it so far, but this time I knew that I could not do it by myself. Bello Machre was there to help. Laura became our newest family member this past June when she joined the St. Margaret's Drive home in Arnold, Maryland. I cannot tell you how relieved I am. Wherever I go, I know that Laura will be safe, secure, and loved. I am torn because service to my country means so much to me. I was so worried about my daughter, but now I am at peace. Laura is off to a great start in her new home, quickly forming friendships with her housemates. She is excited to join them in scrapbooking and anxious to get a camera. Her house counselor comments, That way, she'll be able to share pictures with her dad, wherever his service may take him.
