Success Story
Damon is just 9 years old. He has been in foster care since age 3. He is the child of a drug abusing mother who passed away from an overdose about a year after he entered care. No one has been able to locate his father. A half-brother than was born after Damon is another part of the state has been adopted. Damon has behavior problems linked to his inability to attach to adults, and has had two failed pre-adoptive placements and is now living in therapeutic group living facility. He has no one that visits him, except his CASA volunteer who visits several times a month, and keeps track of his mental health, educational and medical needs. His CASA volunteer is the only "unpaid" person involved in his life. She is there trying to urge the "system" and the court to find him a safe and permanent home. She will be there until that home is found.
