We'll call her Justine to protect her privacy. She was six and badly burned over much of her body when Children Awaiting Parents learned of her need for a family. Justine had been removed from her birth parents because of abuse and her case worker had been unable to find a local family to adopt her.
Children Awaiting Parents (CAP) finds families for America's hardest-to-place children by photo listing the kids in The CAP Book, the national directory of children available for adoption, on www.childrenawaitingparents.org and on adoptuskids.org web sites.
Seven families from six states called about adopting Justine after reading her story in The CAP Book. One of the seven, a family experienced with children needing extensive rehabilitative surgery, adopted Justine.
Thanking CAP on behalf of Justine and her agency, the worker said, quote:"It is critical to have cooperative, national recruitment efforts on behalf of the longest waiting children. Children Awaiting Parents is vital in our outreach efforts for families.""
