Success Story
CHARLIE
Charlie's journey began when he was alone, injured, scared and hungry. When Charlie started hanging around Jennifer Harrison's house, Jennifer knew the stray cat needed help. "It took me months to get him to trust me," said Jennifer, who eventually brought Charlie to OHS. While at the shelter, he received medical treatment (including five tooth extractions at the Animal Medical Learning Center) and captured the hearts of OHS staff.
Charlie was diagnosed with FIV and went into foster care to recover from surgery (see related story on FIV cats,p.13). Lori Coelho spotted Charlie's picture and profile online two months later and was instantly taken with the cat's good looks. After meeting Charlie and talking with his foster family about FIV, Lori decided to adopt Charlie and make him part of her home. Lori had no other pets and her home was quiet and stress free for cats - an ideal match. "Charlie has been a real joy" said Lori. "He sleeps under the covers and even snores. It's very cute!"
