Success Story

When little Jacob began having seizures shortly after birth, doctors discovered he had suffered a stroke in utero. He started therapy to help regain strength and movement on the left side of his body. One day, his occupational therapist noticed how drawn he was to a stuffed dog—and reached out to Pet Partners.

That’s how Jacob met Buddy, a gentle golden retriever and registered therapy dog. Buddy became part of Jacob’s therapy plan: brushing his fur, feeling his paws, and reaching to pet him helped Jacob build strength and coordination. Over three years of visits, Jacob not only grew stronger, he grew more confident. Buddy was his best friend. When Buddy retired, Sully, another Pet Partners dog, stepped in to continue supporting Jacob’s growth.

Jacob’s story is just one of thousands made possible by Pet Partners. From children recovering from trauma to veterans facing PTSD, our therapy animal teams bring unconditional love, comfort, and connection exactly where they’re needed most.

Whether it’s a quiet moment beside a hospital bed or joyful tail wags in a classroom, these visits change lives. That’s the power of the human-animal bond—and the heart of our work.
