Success Story

American Humane: First to Serve® Animals, Wherever and Whenever They Are in Need.

If you love making sure animals are rescued, have shelter, and are protected and secure, giving to American Humane will satisfy all those requirements. American Humane is First to Serve® animals, wherever and whenever they are in need.

Last year, our rescue team saved, sheltered, and fed more than 200,000 vulnerable animals. With a fleet of 50-foot emergency vehicles stationed strategically across the country, the American Humane Rescue team can swiftly respond whenever and wherever animals are in need of rescue. We deploy to the sites of severe floods, earthquakes, wildfires, and hurricanes, among other natural disasters. We also support shelters and rescue animals from puppy mills.

American Humane's Pups4PatriotsTM program rescues dogs in need of forever homes and trains them to become lifesaving service animals for veterans struggling with the invisible wounds of war, including post-traumatic stress (PTS) and traumatic brain injury (TBI). These service dogs are matched with veterans in need across the country – enriching lives on both ends of the leash. Because of our generous donors, this is provided all at no cost to the veteran.

Thanks to a coordinated effort, which involved aggressive campaigning by American Humane, military working dogs are now legally entitled to return to U.S. soil when they retire from military service The benefits to both soldier and dog are immeasurable and we can make sure that the K-9 veterans who served our country receive the hero’s welcome, dignified retirement, and loving, forever home they so rightly deserve.
