Success Story

#1 After serving in Iraq, Ryan , a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, returned home carrying the invisible wounds of war. PTSD, anxiety, and the challenges of transitioning to civilian life often left him feeling isolated, yet Ryan continued to dedicate himself to helping others as a registered nurse throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Everything changed when Paws of War paired him with Milo, a service dog in training. What began as a placement became a lifeline. Through Milo's unwavering companionship, Ryan found comfort, a renewed sense of purpose in life, and hope for the future.Today, Ryan, his wife, and two children continue to give back to their community, while Ryan passionately advocates for fellow veterans facing similar struggles. Their journey is a powerful example of Paws of War's missionBy bringing together vulnerable animals and our nation's heroes, Paws of War creates unbreakable bonds that foster healing, strengthen mental wellness, restore purpose, and transform lives.

#2 While deployed in the Middle East, SGT. K and fellow service members formed an extraordinary bond with a group of stray puppies near their base. Far from home, the dogs became a lifeline of hope, unconditional love, and purpose during the hardships of deployment. Refusing to leave them behind, the soldiers contacted Paws of War through word of mouth. As their base came under attack in 2024, resulting in casualties, injuries, and two soldiers, including SGT. K, receiving Purple Hearts, Paws of War simultaneously worked to rescue the puppies from the conflict zone. Months later, the dogs were reunited with the heroes who loved them, proving the power of compassion and Helping Both Ends of the Leash
