Success Story

4 Paws for Ability will use your contribution, in part, to offset expenses to feed, house, provide vet care, and train service dogs to returning Veterans from Iraq or Afghanistan that are suddenly faced with a disability such as a loss of a limb, balance issue, spinal injury, or hearing impairment. 4 Paws for Ability will provide service dogs, at no cost to the recipients, to help these heroes lead more independent lives.

Our first Veteran Service Dog was placed in March 2011 with Jesse, a former Sniper Team Leader in the United States Marine Corps. He lost the use of his right hand and arm from an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Ar Ramadi, Iraq. Not only is this our first Veteran Dog, this is an extremely unique case because Jesse has a disabled son named Izzy, who suffers from seizures and autism. We were able to train Jesse's dog to also help Izzy. Moe helps Jesse with Mobility and helps Izzy with Seizures and Autism.

We received an update from Jesse in the summer of 2011. "Izzy and Moe are doing great. I, on the other hand, caught a staph infection on my injured arm, and it was amputated. Moe will definitely be good therapy for me and continue to assist me with mobility tasks."
