Success Story

BBF was founded in 1958 by Dr. Robert A. Hingson, a renowned innovator in public health. Dr. Hingson’s most well-known invention, the needleless jet-injector or “peace gun,” dramatically increased medical capabilities in developing countries by allowing for the inoculation of 1,000 people per hour with several simultaneous vaccines. Dr. Hingson’s vision of a world free from diseases such as smallpox, measles, cholera and more led to his creation of Brother’s Brother Foundation (BBF).

Today, BBF’s efforts include requested relief shipments and grant-supported programmatic work in collaboration with partners on the ground across the Americas, Africa, Europe, and Asia. In 2023, BBF sent essential medical and humanitarian supplies, pharmaceuticals, and educational materials to recipients in 36 countries and territories. We responded to 19 disasters including tornadoes in five U.S. states and earthquakes in Afghanistan, Morocco, Nepal and Turkey/Syria. Last year, BBF sent over 165 million doses of pharmaceuticals, supported education initiatives in our community and internationally, and helped provide clean water, sanitation, and solar projects in Africa and the Caribbean.

BBF consistently receives four-star ratings from Charity Navigator for efficient financial management and growth and Guidestar's Platinum rating for transparency. Also, the Better Business Bureau gives BBF its "Wise Giving Alliance Standards" seal of approval.
