Real LifeMeet Coy!
Coy was just 5 years old when he was diagnosed with a chordoma - an extremely rare type of bone tumor - located at the base of his skull.
Thanks to a minimally invasive type of brain surgery pioneered in children at the Brain Care Institute at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, Coy and his family are now facing the future with renewed optimism.
Following his surgery Coy received intensive therapy at the Children's Hospital Rehabilitation Unit, where he did so well he was discharged a week early!
Coy, now 6, is doing well and is enrolled in kindergarten. His mom, Jenni, reports that he has a hearty appetite, tons of energy, and loves to play.
