Planned Parenthood: Shasta-Diablo (PPSD) is the leading provider of reproductive health care and family planning services to low-income women, men and teens in its 13 county Northern California service area. Our efforts focus on three primary areas: providing high quality, low- to no-cost reproductive health care services; conducting comprehensive, medically accurate and age-appropriate sexuality education and outreach to women, men and teens; and empowering clients, staff and others to inform policymakers about the real-life consequences of proposed and established health care policies. Over 90% of our clients have incomes below 200% of the federal poverty level and almost 88% have no health insurance.

One grateful woman confides: "I'm a single mom with a very limited income. So when I need birth control or other services, such as antibiotics for an infection, I depend on Planned Parenthood to provide them to me at low or no cost. This way, I can have money for food, clothing, and shelter for my son. Because at this point in our lives, every single dollar counts."

Another appreciative client explains: "I have a daughter to take care of and I cannot afford my own insurance. Planned Parenthood provides the help I need as a woman. I feel safe and cared for when they help me. I don't feel taken advantage of. I know they really care, and will help me in any way necessary. When my daughter becomes a young woman, I'm taking her to Planned Parenthood. I trust and respect them."
