Creativity sparks engagement! We provide grants to support creative ideas to enhance student learning, scholarships for enrichment and quality in education, and academic summer school along with emergency funds for youth and students in need.
The Shoreline Public Schools Foundation is proud to help fund TEAM PRONTO, which are a group of Northwest Washington students whose mission it is to study and experience the arts of engineering and science.
Started in the fall of 2008, TEAM PRONTO has already played an active role in the community and inspired many to pursue the field of engineering and technology. They are based out of Shorewood High School in Shoreline, Washington.
For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) promotes science and technology education by giving students the opportunity to design and implement a robotic system from start to finish. They learn about principles of design, basic electronic and robotics theories, use of tools and materials, construction techniques, and teamwork.
Each year they receive a kit with parts. The team must use these parts to create a robot. The robot must fit back into the original box and is then quarantined prior to the competition.
FIRST Robotic Competition holds 60 events around the world. Seattle held one of the competitions and TEAM PRONTO received the highest ranking rookie team out of 64, some coming as far away as Turkey.
Congratulations TEAM PRONTO!
