We have great news to share with you! Our patient Hudson, just 7 years old, is playing again thanks to the support of generous donors, his hard work and the dedicated efforts of his care team at Kennedy Krieger Institute.

Let me fill you in on Hudson's story.

Hudson had a stroke in December 2019, when he was 5. The stroke left him barely able to move his right leg, and the only muscles responding in his right arm were in his shoulder.

After he received emergency care, his mom, Heather, brought him to Kennedy Krieger, where he began therapies at the Institute’s Specialized Transition Program (STP), a neurorehabilitation day hospital. For six weeks, Hudson worked hard with his STP team for three or four hours a day, five days a week, and he made incredible progress.

“There is no substitute for the therapists at Kennedy Krieger,” Heather says. “Their expertise is unmatched. The team made our family feel like we were their only patient.”

Now, Hudson is riding his dirt bike and learning to swim, and just recently, he scored his first goal with his school’s soccer team.
