Success Story

Since 1967, we have been serving our neighbors in need in East Multnomah County. By alleviating their food burden, and costs of clothing, we empower families to allocate their resources toward other critical expenses such as rent, utilities, and medical bills. According to the last census, the population we serve has a poverty rate of 13.8% which is 1.7% higher than the rest of Multnomah County. As a founding member of Oregon Food Bank, one of our objectives is to continue to keep the East County’s population less food insecure. With the highest unemployment rate in the county, our families need us.

Yet our main programs are our clothing program and food pantry, we also offer the following:

· Book Program: Each person that visits our food pantry or clothing program can leave with a book to encourage access to reading.

· Community Garden: 45 free garden plots are available next to food pantry as well as educational glasses, and tool swap.

· Hygiene/Cleaning Supplies: Whether it is your body or your house, we always keep a stock of common supplies for those who request them.

· Thanksgiving Day Dinner: Over 700 people in 2023, received a hot meal to-go.

· Winter Care Packages: We ensure over 1,000 families including 3,500 individuals have something extra for the holiday. Hats, gloves, surprises for kids and elders as well as warm goodies for everyone to get through the winter months.

· Trimet fare for Transportation

· Utility Assistance

We run all of this with only 11 paid staff members and hundreds of volunteers. Our volunteers create an energy of giving and service that is unique and contagious.
