Too many Central Texans live without access to basic health care. We're improving the health of the medically underserved and uninsured Texans by providing men, women and children high quality, affordable health care with dignity and respect.
Real LifeHossein came to the United States in 1976 seeking a better life, but has had a hard time making ends meet since the security company he worked for went bankrupt 3 years ago. After trying unsuccessfully to find another job, he ended up living on the street, collecting social security and food stamps to survive. "I was scared to death and without hope. No matter what I did, I couldnít find work, and couldn't afford insurance for myself."
Hossein recently began having health problems, and having no insurance, had difficulty accessing the quality care he needed. Not knowing what was causing his condition, he sought help wherever he could.
"Somebody told me about People's Community Clinic, and that the people here are different; that they care. I didnít believe them at first. I didn't expect I would get a lot of attention. But, when I called and told them about the health problem I was experiencing, they got me an appointment right away."
When he came in for his first appointment, Hossein was surprised and impressed at the high quality of the care he received at PCC. "In my judgment, this is a first-class clinic. Coming here has changed my life. I sincerely hope that I can somehow, someway give back to society for what has been given to me. I appreciate each person that works for People's Community Clinic. Now, my life is different. I have hope in my heart."
