Success Story

JCRS is a unique Jewish agency. Nowhere else in the United States can a family obtain case management in the form of funding for a child with special needs, substantially funded camp and education scholarship assistance, and Jewish outreach — all from one agency. Whether it is
through a one-time special needs assessment, or a lifetime of therapy and care, a subscription to the PJ Library ® that provides free Jewish themed books to children up through age eleven, a Jewish summer camp grant, or an undergraduate aid package, we are here to help. As impressive as these services are, the needs of our at-risk Jewish community are ongoing and enormous.

Rachel Russek recently graduated from Texas State University where she obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biochemistry with a minor in Biology. Now in San Antonio, Rachel is a R&D Research Scientist for a biotech company that develops rapid diagnostic tests that detect infectious diseases in humans and animals. She is a member of the Young & Jewish
group of San Antonio. Rachel’s family relocated to the South Texas town of Harlingen, from Mexico, in the mid 1990’s. JCRS provided college aid for all the years of Rachel’s undergraduate studies and is currently assisting her in pursuit of her masters degree in epidemiology at the
University of Texas Health Science Center. JCRS is also currently assisting her siblings, who
are attending college and who had previously received JCRS camp scholarships to attend Camp
Young Judaea.
