Success Story

Blind Puppy Saved by 'Angell'

On June 30th, a good Samaritan discovered a one-and-a-half-week old Pug underneath a bush in Allston, Massachusetts. The puppy was frightened, disoriented, and appeared to have a swollen eye. The Samaritan immediately delivered the puppy to the MSPCA-Angell in Boston.

Upon arrival, "Olivia" (so named by the MSPCA-Angell staff) was examined by veterinarians at Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston. Angell Ophthalmologist, Dr. Daniel Biros, determined that Olivia was suffering from a severe eye infection in both eyes and is likely 100% blind. He is treating Olivia with medication and has given her a healthy prognosis. While Olivia will be blind for life, she is expected to lead a happy, healthy life as a family companion.

Olivia will continue to receive medical care from the MSPCA-Angell thanks to Spike's Fund, which provides medical care for homeless animals. While undergoing treatment, she will spend the next few weeks with a foster family until she is old enough for adoption.
