Real Life

Gunner, a one-year old Labrador Retriever was surrendered last fall, due to overwhelming orthopedic disease. Gunner was living in significant pain and discomfort so the shelter veterinarian recommended surgery for his shoulder. After undergoing surgery performed by partner veterinary specialists, and after spending weeks in foster care with absolutely no running or jumping, Gunner was finally able to move with much less pain. And, in January, he found his forever family! Black Beauty, an elderly feline, was recently surrendered when his owner could no longer care for him. It was determined that he had hyperthyroidism and was prescribed medication as he entered foster care. He returned to the shelter once his condition stabilized after some complications and after a full recovery, Black Beauty was prescribed special food for his hyperthyroidism. He is now doing well with his forever family! Greenhill Humane Society is committed to achieving a high level of care for the homeless pets in our shelters. We follow the Association of Shelter Veterinarians Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters. Greenhill has been helping homeless, abandoned and abused animals for more than 70 years and is the leader in animal welfare for the mid-Oregon area, thanks to compassionate donors like you. Our shelters never put a time limit on how long an animal can be in the shelter before finding a new loving family. Your support helps ensure our commitment to providing quality care will continue for the animals at First Avenue Shelter and Greenhill Humane Society. Thank you again for your gift and support.
