Save rainforests for endangered wildlife! We've protected over 15 million acres from deforestation since 1988. You can save an acre for as little as $1!
Real LifeCelebrating 28 years of conservation action, Rainforest Trust helps to purchase and protect threatened tropical forest habitats for endangered wildlife around the world. In partnership with local conservation organizations and communities that negotiate, acquire and manage private lands as nature reserves, we have protected over 14 million acres in more than 100 project sites across 20+ countries since 1988.
Among our greatest achievements, we successfully aided our Peruvian partner to permanently safeguard 3 million acres of pristine Amazon Rainforest by establishing Sierra del Divisor National Park for just 50-cents per acre in 2015. The new park is larger than Yellowstone and Yosemite National Parks combined and preserves land for local indigenous communities who have a personal stake in the future of the rainforest.
In other areas of the world, our partners' reserves provide permanent safe havens for endangered wildlife on the edge of extinction, including the Bornean Orangutan, Pygmy Elephant, Sumatran Tiger, Blue-Throated Macaw, and Golden Poison Frog. Our model of placing acres into protection, managing them long-term, and securing them with border patrols is ensuring a future for wildlife and stalling population decline.
Rainforest Trust is proud to report that we consistently maintain low administrative overhead (below 5% in 2015). As one of the most efficient conservation nonprofits in the country, we consistently receive Charity Navigator's top 4-star rating. We are committed to maximizing the benefit of all donations, and 100% of all project gifts are spent directly on conservation action.
