HIP Housing's programs prevent homelessness, empowering low-income individuals and families to break the cycle of poverty and find a safe, affordable, place to call home.
When Paula came to HIP Housing, there was only one thing she wanted - stability for her and her infant daughter. They had been homeless for six months. Paula was accepted into HIP Housing's Self- Sufficiency Program and for the first time in a longtime was able to unpack her bags. She moved into one of the HIP Housing's group share residencies with another single parent family. She received supportive services and attended monthly like skills workshops. With a stable place to call home, Paula was able to set goals, obtain job training and concentrate on finding a full-time job. After only two and a half years, Paula graduated from the Program with a full-time job as a Benefit Analyst for the County of San Mateo and a home of her own. Today, Paula is completely self-sufficient.
