Prevention of child abuse by raising awareness, providing resources, education and support to families, and programs designed to keep kids safe. Services in English/Spanish.
90% of every dollar donated to CAPC goes directly into its community services. No child should suffer the effects of abuse or neglect. All the services of CAPC are offered at no cost to the public. Each year CAPC distributes over 12,000 Baby Bags to parents of newborns; each filled with vital new parent information such as how to access local community resources, parenting information, and child health and safety information. CAPC distributes more than 18,000 copies of Surviving Parenthood, A Resource Directory. This important resource directory is a staple of families, social workers, police officers, and teachers throughout the County. CAPC trains hundreds of teachers, social workers and others who work with children about their responsibilities as Mandated Reporters of suspected child abuse according to California law. Volunteer Community Educators present workshops in the community on Positive Parenting and the issues of child abuse and neglect. Each year, CAPC provides over 100 children with financial assistance for the necessities their parents are unable to afford, including transportation to hospitals, glasses for children, double and triple strollers for needy families, hundreds of pieces of clothing and baby supplies to low income new mothers. CAPC provides unduplicated, evidence based parent education to at-risk, low income families before abuse and neglect can become a part of their lives. CAPC provides in-home post partum support and education to low income, at-risk families, monolingual Spanish speaking families. CAPC is a community leader in the fight to prevent child abuse and neglect. Thank you for your support.
