Real Life

Dakoda DaCosta SEED DC Class of 2016 Sophomore at The University of Pittsburgh Starting with an afterschool program, environmental conservation has become a lifelong passion for Dakoda and a Launchpad to adventure. Through the nonprofit Groundwork Anacostia, Dakoda spend almost every weekend revitalizing the environment around Anacostia and building relationships with the staff and other volunteers. In 2015 he took his passion to Yellowstone National Park as a Green Corps member. But these aren't the only external opportunities SEED has afforded Dakoda. He took his first flight ever to New Orleans with his English class, he performed in Atlanta as a member of the Flacon Theatre, and in 2016 he travelled to Aspen Colorado as a finalist in the Aspen Challenge, hosted by the Aspen Institute. He is also exploring how to turn his love for information technology into a viable career thanks to the advice of SEED life skills counselor. Today Dakoda is a sophomore at The University of Pittsburgh pursuing his degree in Computer Science.
