CWHC facilitates the empowerment of women, trans people, and youth in Chicago by providing access to compassionate health care and comprehensive health education in a respectful environment where people pay what they can afford.
It's hard to get health care if you have no health insurance and little money. Statistics show that low-income people are three times more likely to report being in bad health. In Chicago, an average ofone person in six does not have health insurance - in some neighborhoods it is one of every three people.
We seek to make gynecological and mental health care available to women regardless of their ability to pay. Our services include well-woman gynecology, advanced gynecology, individual and group counseling, alternative insemination, and outreach and education. In all of our programs, we strive to empower women through self-help, education, and sensitive care.
