Semper Fi Fund provides immediate financial assistance and lifetime support to post 9/11 wounded, critically ill and injured service members of all branches and their families. SFF has earned 4-stars from Charity Navigator and an A+ from Charity Watch.
The Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund has been honored to assist one remarkable Marine Staff Sergeant and his wife. This Marine was injured in June 2006 during his second tour in Iraq. While on patrol, his vehicle was hit by a roadside IED explosion. He sustained catastrophic injuries and is now paralyzed from the chest down with limited arm function.
The Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund was able to provide funds for this Marine's family to be at his bedside throughout his initial stay at Bethesda Naval Hospital and follow up care at the VA Hospitals in Florida and California. Having his family present gave him the emotional boost needed to aid in his recovery.
As this Marine's recovery progressed, his needs became more tangible. The IMSFF helped the family with the purchase of an adapted Honda Element that is wheelchair accessible. A grant for a portable lift has helped his wife with her husband's day to day needs. We provided $50,000 toward handicapped modifications for his new home and also purchased him a specialized hand cycle that allows him to compete in our Team Semper Fi Sports Program. These grants have helped this brave Marine regain some of his freedom and independence and were made possible by the generosity of our donors.
This extraordinary couple's strength, positive spirit and determination are an inspiration for all who know them. Thank you for believing in the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund and assisting us in "Serving Those Who Preserve Our Freedom".
