The lines at soup kitchens are very long and growing. More families than ever are now seeking shelter. Our student volunteers are in great demand.
Almost all of our experience was incredibly vivid and had a great effect on my way of thinking. However, the one thing that stands out in my mind was our experience at the Broadway Presbyterian Soup Kitchen. Seeing all of those hungry faces made me think. It was amazing to see how much a simple gesture such as serving them a hot lunch with a cup of ice cream could do. It seemed to make their day. It was a great feeling of accomplishment to see a hungry child or a hungry adult say "God Bless You" for simply giving them something that you take for granted everyday of your life. This was the most memorable thing for me.
