About

No one is meant to endure cancer alone. Our primary goal is to ensure that anyone battling cancer can receive sensitive, compassionate support, free of charge. With your help we can improve the quality of life for cancer patients and their families.

Real Life

I was diagnosed in 2008 with Merkel Cell Carcinoma. Surgery, radiation and chemotherapy kept me out of business for months. During that time, I learned that life is meant to be lived deeply. Find your passion; find what gives your life meaning. Do something good for the world.

CanCare matched me with a cancer survivor volunteer who changed my life. My volunteer met me where I was emotionally, walked me through the each stage of the cancer experience, and talked about issues only survivors understand. I believe my recovery time was accelerated because of his support.

CanCare is a culmination of people who have been touched deeply by cancer. CanCare takes on the challenge of walking alongside those entering the unknown world of cancer. I am blessed to be a part of this journey.

We all have something to offer the world. I am passionate about bicycling, in a slow, methodical, thanks-for-being-alive kind of way. When I watched the chemo drip in my arm, I desperately needed hope. When I received radiation, I needed to know that a good life was there beyond treatment. I relate to the regular Joe Cancer Survivor, who's trying to regain a little fight from a treatment that almost whooped him. Now I redefine my possibilities. Cancer survivors understand. I ride my bike to give hope to those enduring treatment. Summer 2010, I completed a 57 day, 4,200-mile bicycle journey from the Pacific to the Atlantic.
