Real Life

Angel Wheels Provides Gas Cards for Decorated Hero In 2014, Marine Corps veteran Horacio Pino was severely injured in a motorcycle accident when he was hit by a school bus in Suffolk, Virginia. The driver was charged and judgment is pending. Pino has plates in his right arm and neck from several surgeries as well as surgeries on his left hand. He suffers from TBI and PTSD and receives treatment at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in Richmond. After serving in the Marines, Pino was a police officer in Memphis, Tennessee where he was highly decorated by the Carnegie Hero Fund Commission for saving a nine-year-old girl from burning in a fire. His last job was as a dive supervisor, but he's no longer able to work. Angel Wheels regularly provides him with gas cards so he can travel to Richmond for treatment, which is having some positive results. When he expresses his gratitude to us, he tears up saying we're the only agency that's helped him.
